TFD Responds to Residential Fire on Skylark Avenue

On September 30, at approximately 4:43 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a structure fire on Skylark Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from a two-story residential structure. Crews quickly entered the residence and found heavy fire toward the rear of the structure. Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack while simultaneously conducting a search of the home. The search confirmed that no people were inside.
Firefighters were able to rescue one puppy from the residence. Sadly, several other pets did not survive the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Personnel from TFD Stations 1, 3 and 4 responded to the incident. The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.
